would my car insurance company find out if iam married or not?

when doing my insurance i said i was married which i am not really but planning on getting married. would they find out about this?

    *sigh* they will find out only if someone tells them, really; I have never actually looked up any of my insureds’ marriage status. But I am assuming yout intended has a good driving record? And by the way -pay attention, all you folks trying this-it’s a LOT harder to take someone OFF than to add them ON. (and only 14 states still recognize common-law marriage, so check before you claim that, either).

    Yes…….they do check this out completely for errors and some insurance companies can and will either drop you or charge you for the difference that you will owe…

    They probably wont bother to look, but if you have a claim they will find out and your insurance may be void, and since coverage when you need it is the whole point of insurance, its better to let them know once you get married and add the second drivers name to the policy. (even if they don’t intend to ever drive your car).

    They can find out,especially if you listed two drivers. If being married would make a difference in rates, they could charge the higher rate until you actually get married, or cancel you for misrepresentation. Better come clean to prevent trouble!

    Yes and when they do they will most likely cancel you. if they do, i8t will be difficult and expensive to get insurance
