LoL. Its amazing how passionate the answerers are on this subject. Rather funny about the Pile of burnt lumber insurance. I couldn’t help but laugh. Anyway I’m not completely dumb on the subject. I was just curious on the title of life insurance.

Why wasnt Life Insurance refered to as Burial Insurance?
I’m just curious why in the world its called Life Insurance because it can only be used after you’re dead to make sure you get buried. It doesn’t insure you’ll stay alive.

While life insurance can cover the cost of your funeral, it can also cover your debts, your dependent children, and other expenses. What life insurance really should be called is "income protection" because it can provide income to your family in case you die. I have deliver many death claims and I take it a step further to make this money last long as possible.

The primary purpose of life insurance is not "burial." It is to provide financial support for survivors who depend on your income.

Why in the world would you call it burial coverage? Whoever gets paid the money, can do whatever they want with it. Having a policy that pays someone else money, is NO guarantee you’ll be buried.
MOST life insurance, isn’t to cover the cost of the burial, anyway – it’s to help the people you left behind, keep living the same standard of living.

You don’t call car insurance "wreck" insurance or you house "pile of burned lumber" insurance. It’s naming what it’s insuring….the car, house, and the life. And, nobody buys $1,000,000 worth of life insurance for a burial.
Hope that helps.
