Because of statistics. Teenage boys have a history of claiming more than other groups, thus they are punished for it.

Teenagers have more accidents, and boys have more than girls do. As you get older you get more responsible and your premiums drop. Insurance is priced according to risk.

Because as a group, teenage boys have more accidents than girls do. It’s possible that girls text and talk more, but that doesn’t make them higher risk than boy drivers.
Risk isn’t just based on doing dumb things like texting while driving, it also is based on basic stuff like how much driving you do, and where and when you drive.

Because if you lump 1000 16 year old boy drivers in one group, and you lump 1000 35 year old boy drivers in another, the group of 16 year olds has more claims, and more accidents, and more dollars paid out in claims.
They cost more to insure, because they make more claims.
Women might actually have a larger NUMBER of accidents, but they are small – not as spectacular as the car totalling, flipping things that make the headlines, that generally happen with men.
But texting is going to even the playing field. Unfortunately, there are no numbers related to texting while driving (how dumb is THAT?) – so it isn’t a rating factor.

It is universal that teenage boys are more advertureous than girls and are more likely to be involved in accidents than girls. Female do have higher rate of accidents but are smaller ones. Due to this high risk the companies keep rate higher for boys. However there are certain discounts which can reduce ur rate like good gpa score. To know more you can read this article

The premium rates are not based anywhere on what you are thinking. They ARE however based upon the numbers of claims submitted by the teenage boy group, as well as the numbers of traffic citations for same group. If you would like to check those records, I think you will understand why your group pays more.

Who wrecks more? Teenage boys.

Because teen boys are the dumbest drivers (highest accident rate).

Teens pay more for car insurance or, in general, motor insurance because they are higher risk for insurance companies as teens are more involved in motor accidents, they drive in adrenaline rush which may cause severe accidents and therefore the claim amount paid by insurance companies are higher.
So, to maintain an adequacy of premium amount, teens are charged more.
