Why do liberals keep bringing up the Auto Insurance answer when trying to defend Health Care as necessary?

I don’t know if they understand that Auto Insurances are a State mandate not the Federal Govt, and that one doesn’t need an auto insurance if they don’t have a car. Which makes their argument without substance on health care.
Also they can’t seem to answer the constitutionality of the Federal Govt forcing people to purchase Health Insurance against their will.

One of the many poor arguments they use to attempt to defend the flawed legislation.
Auto insurance mandate is contingent on the operation of a motor vehicle and is regulated by the states while the health insurance reform is contingent on breathing and will be regulated by the Secretary of Health and Human services. The former is a choice, the latter is a mandate.
A quote from the bill;
"…the Secretary shall make such adjustments that are deemed necessary including, reducing benefits, establishing waiting lists or increasing premiums."
This is but one of countless references to the sole discretion of the Secretary of Health and Human services.

You’re OK with a state mandate, but not a federal one? What is your rationale for that? Really, I’d like to hear what difference it makes to you. Sounds like blatant "anti-federalism" to me.

Thumbs-downers who thumbs-down just because they’ve been owned really annoy me. Maybe once health care passes, I’ll be able to take something for that.

Car insurance is a state mandate. (It’s in the Constitution, state rules stuff). And, your car insurance isnt’ tied to your employment. Huge difference. You can take the car insurance with you if you move out of state. Not so, you lose your health care if you leave your job. Health insurance should never be tied to your employment.

They’re idiots. Only a moron is blind to see
1. Auto isnusrance is a STATES ISSUE……not a fed one
2. Auto insurance is an option for drivers only, not a mandate required everyone to join.
3. Car insurance and driving is a previledge not a right.

Ignorance ! They are just repeating what the libby propaganda machine tells them to say !

To avoid the obvious fact that this is a direct tax on being alive. This bill says that if you are citizen of the U.S. then you are owned from birth by an insurance company. Next you will be taxed for exhaling carbon dioxide if these space muffins get their way, but they are the party of the people. Yea right.

Because some of the terms are similar to the description of what would be required of a federal mandate for health insurance reform. Thus, they use that fact either because they aren’t intellectually gifted enough to determine the difference for themselves (they are misinformed), or they use that to confuse others that either don’t have enough information or haven’t thought through the various differences themselves (they are misinforming others).
I love the liberal on here that claims that once again he is waiting on the government to come in and give him or allow him to get something that he has determined he needs. Won’t go get it on his on, but willing to wait for it to be handed to him. Priceless

I agree owning a car is a CHOICE, so they are only mandating you have auto insurance if you make the CHOICE to own a car. With this mandate there is no choice. But Libs don’t say anything because they want the government to control you life because they feel we are to stupid to run our own lives. But they will never admit it.

As an example of why some people should not be allowed to vote.

Not everyone needs car insurance. Driving is a privilege granted by the state, thus the state can attach requirements such as insurance and a car in good repair ie: inspections.

"one doesn’t need an auto insurance if they don’t have a car. " Like most conservatives, you lack critical thinking skills. What a poor analogy. EVERYONE has a body. Having said that, I’m torn on this issue (being a "liberal", I’m capable of nuanced thought.). I think the health care industry is out of control, but I don’t like that I’ll be forced to get health care. Then again, those who can’t afford it will get assistance. Does anyone else find it hilariously ironic that some of these tea party idiots actually have signs that say "Don’t touch my medicare!". Uh morons, medicare is run by the Government. My god.

Because of the left wing talking points … And blogs ( probably written by prepubescent boys with their pants down around their ankles , jacking off between jots ) … Your average liberal is convinced that he/she is smart ( because they have been told this ) … They think everything is gonna be taken care of by the gov’t ( weak , phony , fake compassion and usually aren’t informed of the issues ) … Can’t wait to see the look on the faces of your average dem when they finally realize they have been conned !!!! ….. out
