You mean discrimination in the same way liberals discriminate against those who pay taxes and favor those who do not pay????

They have bunches of studies and records proving who gets into more accidents.

For the same reason that the elderly pay much more for life insurance than young people – statistics. The higher the risk, the higher the premium.

Because age and sex makes a difference when it comes to claims. This is based on actuarial tables which analyze the experience of large cross sections of people.

Males under 25 have the highest accident rates of any other group.

Insurance companies do not discriminate. Auto insurance rates are based on risk. Age and sex are factors in rating risk. If it were up to me, men would not even get a driver’s license until age 25.

No, it’s good business. The younger the driver, the more risk.

That’s a pretty good question but I don’t think it’s illegal for a non-government entity to discriminate for any reason. Just like if you’re a shop owner, you have the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason.

No not at all! Young males are naturally aggressive and drive that way. Insurance charges reflect that.

    Problem is?

They already do and they use your credit score in their calculations also.

How else do you think they assess their risk and set your rates?

  • Flower 5:02 pm on April 20, 2010

They are a private enterprise that does not get government funding. They don’t call it discrimination. They call it assessing a risk.
