Well this may sound like a long shot, but I just recently bought my son a 2000 Ford Mustang, Now its insurance time, hes 18, gets A’s in school and has had drivers ed. Why do the quotes from Progressive and esurance estimate its going to cost nearly 0 a month, even with a 1990 honda junker it still cost nearly 0 do these prices seem reasonable, i cant recall them being that high, when i first got insurance, thanks.

I pay 88 a month through Geico with a few discounts (good student and safe driver) at the age of 21. I would recommend that you don’t take their cheapest quote though as that has minimal coverage if something does happen.

The lack of driving experience and the high risk age group is the problem. Buying a sports car doesn’t help the situation either. If you add him to your policy, it should save you a few dollars, but it will be expensive, nonetheless. If the car is paid for, you might try liability only with UM/UIM, but know that if he is at fault, his car is not going to be repaired by the insurance…it just makes him legal and other drivers are covered that he may hit.
