You don’t automatically qualify for Medicaid.
You CAN still qualify for COBRA, if you get fired – but you’ll have to PAY for it.

You can get COBRA coverage … keep your employer plan insurance but you pick up the cost, with help from the federal assistance program to cover a large percentage of the cost for the unemployed. It is very unlikely you will qualify for Medicaid.

Depends on your definition of "affordable". Also, you do not give enough information about being eligible for Medicaid. There are more requirements than just NOT having insurance already.

You don’t say where you live, but in most states, unless you meet the federal guidelines for disability, males will not qualify for medicaid.Google your state + medicaid to view your states site. Aside from that, there is COBRA. But it is not usually affordable since you will have to pay the entire premium. Most employers pick up part of that when you are an employee.
Your best option is to get another job–quickly that offers healthcare…

You can buy COBRA insurance for up to 18 months. Ask the HR department at work. Medicaid is not available unless you are under 21, over 65, pregnant, a new immigrant, disabled or have children, PLUS you must be very low income.

You would probably not qualify for medicaid. To qualify for medicaid, you must have so little money that you would not even be asking about "affordable" plans, because you would not be able to afford anything.
In most cases, a person who loses a job for any reason (fired, quits, whatever) qualifies for "COBRA", but usually for just 18 months. However, that might be enough time to find a new job.

Well like everyone is saying there is COBRA but its really expensive. COBRA wanted more then three time what I was paying through my employer. However your employer is required to offer it to you.
The good news is that today, under cretin job loss conditions, you could qualify for a federal subsidy program. The program pays about 2/3 of the COBRA premium for, I think, 8 months. The COBRA people send you information about the program along with there stuff.
You should probably get an independent quote as well. I just saying that so that you know what that number would look like. You can get a quote from a couple of pleases at ones from a place like this.
