• Why doesn't Medical/Life Insurance cover for Eye Therapy since this is one of the remedial step for lazy eyes?

  My son aged 7 years old has been recently diagnosed with Lazy Eyes and we were told that Life and Medical Insurance doesn’t cover such expenses on eye therapies. My take is that this is a medical condition, and eye therapy is one of few solution to encourage the use of the affected eye.

  Let’s face it, here in the U.S. the medical insurance premiums for group health coverage is rising faster than inflation. As a result, a lot of companies are either reducing the levels of coverage in order to offset the cost of insurance, increasing the deductible, and or increasing the cost to the employees for the insurance premiums.

  The problem is that insurance companies have no incentive to reduce insurance premiums. They continue to get record profits and this issue is out of control.

  How do we get the insurance companies to decrease insurance premiums to the rate of inflation, or better yet, start reducing the cost of premiums for a change?

• Should I hire an Attorney before I speak with homeowners insurance?

  My seven year old daughter was burned at a New Years Eve party by fireworks on twenty percent of her body. We spent 27 days in the Shriners Childrens Burn unit in Cincinatti Ohio and our lives as we once knew them have completely changed. I was told by an attorney not to speak with the insurance company, but I am afraid to hire the attorney because he will get a third of the money. We have received numerous bills and granted our medical insurance is paying 80% but were left paying the other 20% and she is going to need medical care for the rest of her life. Also my med insurance will only handle 60 physical therapy treatments and she is doctor ordered 3 to 5 a week and has lost alot of range of motion in her left arm that she almost lost due the injuries. Can I trust the homeowners insurance and is thier best intrest the care of my daughter or should I hire the attorney that is really eager to jump in & take over? Any Advice? I feel as if they are passing the liability on my husband???
  We were at a very close friends house when this had happened, somebody besides the home owner brought mortar shell fireworks which are illegal in the state of Florida, this person was not licensed, did not anchor them and unravelled more than half of the 3 thousand dollars that he paid for and ask my husband to help, my daughter followed my husband and 3 other children on a boat dock under a roof. The man that bought them, his 14 year old son and my husband were all three lighting them and a spark caught MOST of them on fire and my daughter was caught in the middle while the whole thing blew up at once. It could of been my husbands that spark the rest, my daughter thinks it was the 14 years old that hit the roof. We honestly do not know. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVICE, ANY IS APPRECIATED.

• Why is my medical insurance company asking me to provide a statement from my auto insurance company?

  They sent me an EOB but also said:

  1 – Please send a statement from your automobile insurance company showing whether these expenses have been paid or denied. When we receive this information, we will consider this charge.

  This is what confuses me… I wasn’t in any auto accident at all. Just went to the emergency room for an animal bite. They sent me a EOB. I paid the bill for the copay. Then they sent me this one again. Could this just be a mistake then?
