Can an insurance agent in one state issue a life insurance policy for another person living in another state?
We live in the state of NJ and we had a baby in 2009. My father-in-law, who lives in MD and who also happens to be an insurance agent in MD, took out a whole-life insurance policy on my child without my consent. Can my father-in-law do this and is the policy valid if he did it outside the state of MD?
Is it better to buy life insurance or term life insurance?
This isn’t spam and I don’t want spam as answers, but what type of life insurance is better and why? Is there a pros/cons list anywhere?
I’ve already got the companies lined up that I’m going to use to buy the insurance, but I’m not sure if it’s better to get the cheaper term life insurance or if I should pay more for "regular" life insurance.
Do I get benefits from Servicemen's group life insurance for a Vietnam Vet?
After my father died a couple weeks ago, I noticed a section called ‘Servicemen’s group life insurance’ with a dollar amount in it. Is this only for people that die in active duty or for their entire life. He was a Vietnam Veteran and I’m trying to see if someone in my family should get this benefit.
how do i find out about father's life insurance policy?
Father and Stepmother were in process of divorcing, but father died before everything was final. He purportedly changed his life insurance policy to include all of his children, not just those bore by him and stepmother. He sent the paperwork in the mail. Never heard anything and stepmother has everything because father’s new will wasn’t finalized…It’s been three years. What can I do? How can I find out which life insurance policy he had and do we stand a chance of getting any of the money if the insurance company simply didn’t process the change before he died?

I have a whole life policy, through the Nights of Columbus. There is a respected financial advisor, Suze Orman, who seems so adamnant that whole life is not a swift move. She makes it sound as if there is not one reason to own whole vs term. Are there any good reasons for owning whole?

can my 30 year old husband draw back child support out of the life insurance policy of his dead father?
My husband never knew his father and he owes years and years of child support to his family. I found through a geneology website that his father passed away two years ago. What rights does he or his mother have on any life insurance funds which may have been given to his current family (you know the one he decided not to desert) to pay back owed child support? Thanks for your help.

Why are they advertising life insurance and sell-gold commercials on kids' cartoons?
I’m watching He-Man and She-Ra cartoons on the RTV network (Detroit channel 7.2) right now, and I watch "Heathcliff" and "Inspector Gadget" on the THIS-TV network (Detroit channel 4.2) every weekday morning before school. Why do they advertise life insurance, sell-gold-for-cash, and other junk that kids would have no interest in? What ever happened to toys, cereal, and McDonalds commercials during cartoons?
My father took out a $1,000.00 life insurance policy out on me in 1957, what's the interest rate?
I was told that it was a non-maturing policy. I received a check today for ,000.00 plus .00 interest. This seems way off of the mark we’ve calculated considering the insurance policy was taken out in 1957 the month of my birth. To add, this was a Met Life policy through the Railroad where dad was employed for 44 years!
Why do employers carry life insurance on their employees that name them as the beneficiary?
I believe the term for this type of insurance is called paupers insurance coverage, it allows the employer to receive funds should the employee die. The employer usually has coverage well above what the employee has elected to be covered for and that goes to the family. Some employers carry a separate claim, so the employee is worth more dead than alive to them… Why is this type of insurance legal or needed?
from what I have read, this insurance is not only held on key employees, but on all employees regardless of position. Great insights though, look forward to reading more.
what bothers me, is that employers set limits on how much an employee can insure themself for, and they (the employer) have no limit. They place themself in a higher regard for loss than that of the famiy. What if the employee is the sole worker in the home, taking care of their family. The impact to the family is higher than that of the company, it is not like you can run right out and find an alternative source of income and employers can find a person to replace the employee in a matter of hours.
