  I called for a quote from one place, and was told that they couldn’t write a policy. The other place (Geico) doesn’t underwrite for someone whose house was built in the 40’s.

  I need to locate a company (domestically or internationally) willing to write homeowners insurance in a coastal zone. Our zone is 120mph. This will be a new house built to the latest IRC building codes and have a 150mph metal roof. The firm does not have to be licensed to do business in the state of Louisiana but must have a sound financial rating. I know insurance is available in coastal areas worldwide.

  I have already exhausted licensed agents in LA Citizens as the only option available. Their plan is NOT acceptable. I am attempting to expand my horizon to international companies who are NOT licensed in the state of Louisiana. There is residential insurance available in the the US territories (ie: Guam, USVI,PR..etc) who are in a more severe zones than coastal LA.

  Our lot is 7′ above MSL and are planning on building 20′ above grade. My simple question is why is insurance available worldwide but not available in the Continental USA?
