    you can get quotes from reputable insurance agencies. The airlines will not be able to sell you this type of insurance since it is unethical, and therefore they are barred from doing so.

    There are a number of so-called travel insurance plans available.. Do check around and read the specific coverages, time limits, carriers/airlines covered or excluded as well as any other general policy exclusions and limitations..

    Also, be aware that insurance in the US, is regulated at the state level, so a particular policy or company may not be able to sell you coverage in your state.. Be sure to read for specifics.

    If you have an existing homeowners policy you can often get travel or trip insurance with a substantial discount (for having multiple policies or ‘lines’ with them)
