Nationwide Insurance was established in 1925, as the Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. Initially they were providers of cheap auto insurance and their customers were farmers in Ohio. Few years later their service was expanded to Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina and West Virginia. In 1934, they extended their service to include metro areas; they also entered the fire and property insurance industry. A year later they were operating in 32 states. To keep with the change the company changed its name to Nationwide Insurance. For the next forty years the company kept on growing. In 1978 it opened its international Headquarters. The year 1996 saw them launch Nationwide Financial.
