Is there health insurance for military spouses through the VA?

My husband is out of the military and even though he could of gotten health insurance through his job he chose to get it through the VA but says there is nothing for me. He showed me the site saying that spouses can only get insurance if the spouse is totally disabled or dead. Is this true? Or can is there a health insurance i can still be on? He isnt in the reserves he is unactive reserve i think.

you are not entitled to VA insurance. You must secure your own, either through his job or yours, or a private source(which will cost an arm and a leg).

If you are within 60 days out, you can apply for Cobra.

Nice husband there,
Tell him to get insurance thru work, so you are covered.
Category 8 veterans, are only allowed 2 years of health care thru the VA after leaving the military.
Category 8 veterans are those with no service related injuries or illiness’s.
IE: healthy normal people, who just happened to serve in the military.
But no, the VA does not provide health care to non veterans.
