I don’t know of ANYONE writing new business homeowners insurance in FL. I take that back. There are a couple of companies that have sprung up, that are unrated by AM Best – and I’d NEVER recommend going with an unrated carrier – at least Citizens is guaranteed to pay (eventually, insert wry laugh here) based on the fact that they can increase taxes on all property owners in FL to cover their unsecured losses (They currently have about $8Billion including letters of credit, to cover losses – and over $400 Billion in exposures).

    I used a company http://www.floridachoicepoint.com

I don’t know the number but I’m sure it’s on the web site. My mortgage broker knew them. I didn’t have any problems.
