both moto and life insurance is pretty high for cycle riders, not meant as a joke, it’s the sad truth, stay safe! i road safe but got hit by a dumbass car, nothing happened but i stopped after cause LA is a horrible for bikers. ninja 250

Where I live, motorbike insurance is a hell of a lot cheaper than car insurance. I’m 17 & pay around £600 for full comprehensive, where as my friends are paying around £2,500 on 3rd party only for their cars.
Also try a 250cc to start of on like a Ninja 250R.

Your insurance rates will depend on several issues.

The more expensive the bike…the higher the rate will be. Also, if you include in the policy such items as accessories will drive the rate even higher.

Your age and the age of the bike will figure into the rate.

Your driving record will also go into the calculation.

Where you live and how insurance companies figure the likelyhood of your property getting stolen is a factor as is if you have taken an approved motorcycle safety course. They might even ask you if the bike will be garage kept.

    I pay, IIRC, $35 a year liability and $45 a year un/under-insured coverage.

For a bike, rather than a 250, at the same size and only 50 pounds heavier, a Suzuki Savage or S40 lightweight 652cc cruiser. It made Progressive Insurance list of least stolen and least crashed which will help on insurance rates. It is also a wicked quick city bike capable of steady 65-75 on the highway with an 85 mph top speed. Leatherlyke makes hard lockable saddlebags for it, although some people mount steel .50 cal. ammo cases as panniers.

Your age will count against you – young men tend to crash bikes a lot more often than older, more experienced riders, so the insurance costs more.

If you’re concerned about the cost of insurance, you might want to consider starting out on a smaller bike (600cc max) until you’ve got a bit more experience – smaller bikes are cheaper to insure.

Also, keeping your motorcycle stored securely in a locked garage will reduce the cost of theft insurance.
