Is it true that your auto insurance company considers the color of your vehicle when determining rate?
I am buying a new car, and I’ve heard that your insurance rates may go up or down depending on the color of your car. I’ve heard that a red car has higher insurance rates, while white cars are the lowest. Is that true?

Not true, massive myth.
Insurance companies don’t care what color your car is.

for some. they say red cars are generally sports cars and go faster, but you should check with each company you are considering.

its a minor consideration since red cars get more tickets than other colors

Yes some colors are suggested to be more noticable or attention getting for cops or thieves. Red for example is said to get more tickets & black is popular for theives when stealing SUVs or Red for sports cars. Do other cars get stolen of course but supposeably there are prefernces for certain types.

Not true, just call the insurance company and ask them how much it is to insure a few different cars.
MRB got it right and 3 other dummies just repeated what they’ve been told.

No, it has absolutely no impact on your insurance rates. Its just a myth people have, when you call to get insurance at no point will you be asked the color of the vehicle and the VIN does not specify the color.
