Erie is one of the main carriers in my Agency and I find their service to be top notch — they have won JD Powers Awards multiple times — and their prices are very competitive. You will receive a discount on both your automobile and homeowners insurance if you purchase the life insurance through Erie which can result in a significant savings of money if you keep them for a few years.
You might be able to find something less expensive but when you weigh all the factors — I believe Erie will be your best bet. Do note that your Erie Agent should be able to give you a quote for Erie and a quote for one or more other companies so that you can compare the costs and factor in the discounts and thereby make an informed decision as to what is best for you and your family.
Good Luck

Compared to what?
Me, I LOVE Erie. I’m not a fan, of mortgage life insurance – I think you’ll get a better deal with straight term coverage.
But as far as pricing, as long as you’re comparing exact same policy types and coverages, it’s fine to shop strictly based on price, as long as all the carriers are A rated or better.

I had a minor fender bender with a motorist who was insured by Erie. I had a check based on a body shop estimate in 4 days. I can;t complain about that!I’;d have to say "yes". You are smart to have HO and auto with the same co. You do get a discount that way.

Normally it’s ridiculous to get life insurance through a car insurance company, but in Erie’s case it might make sense to do at least some coverage with them if you have your car and homeowners through them. They’ll give you discounts, but normally without the discounts they’re very expensive. SO, call your Erie agent and get a price and then call an insurance broker to look at ALL of the other companies.
