any car is a good first car buddy. especially if your parents are paying for the gas and insurance.

yes this car is very reliable powerful, and nice enough for a high school kid. it would be a great car for high school, as long as you don’t have to pay for gas cause the gas milage is around 16mpg. it’s also safe. i don’t know what insurance would cost, but gas would probably be around 2k maybe a little more. good luck with whatever you choose.

Um… I would imagine that any first car being purchased for a teenager by their parents better be good enough! Let alone what the insurance and gas is going to cost them.

Hey! I have an 01 nissan pathfinder 3.5 v6 which is practically the same vehicle as your 2004 except yours is nicer
. ok well i am a nissan finatic and i will tell u that vehicle is worth it!! every penny. I never had a single problem with my pathy and it now has 109k on it.
The 1996-2004 pathfinders are called R50’s. that is the vehicle code. All r50s have unibody construction which is great conpared to a body on frame. It gives u car like handling and stability plus comfort. the engine is also amazing. The vq35de is nissan flagship v6 which has 240 hp and 265 lb ft of torque which is plenty of power for everything u do…trust me. YOur lucky your getting the le platinum which has everything from heated leather to all mode 4wd system from a switch. Dont forget u have a bose system in that thing to…which is a very clear sound system but lacks the bass so add a sub.
one thing to remember though…nissan engines are very complicated and is full of new technology and that means if anything goes wrong u pay big bucks to get it repaired. ANd little fixes that u must do and will also cost u big bucks. For example the use of many O2 sensors cost alot of money to fix…400 bucks total for 4 of them and no labor included. eventually they burn out so its normal maintenance.
overall its an exccelent vehicle and i do reccomend u get it after checking the history and taking a thourough test drive of the vehicle and make sure there are no suspicious noises. since it has such low miles and take good care of it and it will last u awhile…200k easily. Remember gas isnt that great at all. The vq35de is a thirsty engine and it also requires u to run premium 91 or higher for maximum efficiency and performance. i average about 15-17 and can sometime get 12 mpg but i can get 18-20 on the highway if u take it easy.
good luck…email me if u need anymore info.
another suv to consider is a
Toyota 4runner i also use to own one and never had a single problen with it until i wrecked it. Died at 160k
