I live in Chicago and have had Allstate insurance for 7 years with no claims. Imagine my surprise when I open my renewal contract and found the insurance increased 3x’s …..3′xs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven’t yet called the company to hear their lame excuses as they haven’t;t opened yet but has this happened to anyone else.. and what excuse did the company say

This has happened to LOTS of people, practically EVERYONE in Florida!
There are basically three reasons for seriously increased premiums:
1. One of your major systems – heating, plumbing, electrical, roof – has become over 20 years old without being updated
2. There has been significant claims activity on the policy – two or more claims in the past three years – apparently not the case with you
3. Your credit score seriously dropped, like maybe 150 or 200 points.
The only other reason a company would raise rates THAT high, is if they’re trying to stop writing insurance in that state. One way they do that, is be "encouraging" clients to go elsewhere by raising the rates.

Has your area changed flood status (Check FEMA.gov), has your credit scores decreased recently and has your replacement value increased substantially from your previous policy to this one?

You need to find out why instead of just ranting. Pull out the dec page from last year’s policy and compare it to the new one, line by line. Where are the big increases?

Maybe you lost a discount you were getting, like multi-line or Home Security discount for something else.
Take a higher deductible and ask how you can get more discounts to lower your premium. Or, if that doesn’t work, just shop around.
