If we repeal health insurance, can they do auto and home insurance too?

What is the difference? I don’t see anyone talking about repealing auto insurance, or how it’s going to destroy America by requiring EVERYONE WHO DRIVES A CAR to have it. Isn’t it my American right to drive fast and crash into a tree?

Exactly. If "they" did who in their right mind would get on the highways. Then what would you do if your house gets blown away by a tornado. Same goes for health care. If you have the money, you can drive without insurance, own a home and not worry about your health. But, if you are not wealthy, you better have auto, home, health and life insurance. If not and you don’t, you shift the burden of your carelessness and ignorance on to all the other people that pay for insurance and or pay taxes.

No. You do not have the right to drive. It is a privilege given to you by the state. Yeah you can own a home and not have insurance. But if a guest trips over a light cord and breaks his neck you better have the money to cover his medical fees. No you don’t need health insurance. All you need to do is live without ever getting sick or hurt and don’t have children.

Driving a car and owning a home are privileges which can be regulated.
Anyone alive MUST now get health insurance.
Living is not a privilege and cannot be regulated.
    Read the constitution….if you can.

  3. sociald Says:

the key being everyone ‘who drives a car’ not everyone drivees a car. not everyone owns a home.

  4. Mark Says:

Exactly, insurance is all a scam anyway.

  5. Foxx Says:

Bingo! This why a lot of folks were against it-there is no stopping the government now that they are on a roll-you getting the picture as to what this is all about?

  6. Mr. Says:

    …Exactly..

Being in a car…on the road…makes you a liability to yourself, the people in your car, and everyone around you. This is why car insurance is required.

Similarly, …if you go to the Emergency room for non emergency care, because you don’t have a physician or insurance… then you’ve created a monetary liability/burden… for everyone who needs health care services.

We have all sorts of regulations that protect public safety,…but until now..none that protected the public health at large.

You have choice whether or not to drive a car…..but you don’t really have a choice if you get sick and need medical care….and neither does the hospital..they have to treat you.

The conundrum in all of this….
We already pay for health care for everyone…except we aren’t getting our money’s worth…we are being overcharged.

  7. Freedom > Govt Says:

Auto insurance is on the state level and everybody is not mandated to drive a car (thus buy insurance). You can opt out of auto insurance by choosing not to drive. Obamacare is essentially a tax on your life, and there is no escape from it. You can’t opt out of living, for example, like you can driving a car.

  8. Dice Says:

I suppose if the banks and motgage companies would let you get by without insurance some people would . Trouble is when you have a lein on property and it burns down you still have to pay it off.
If you buy a brand new car and total it, you still have to pay on it for 3 or 4 years. Your kind of dense are you not?

  9. Paladin Says:

you have to get auto liability insurance to protect the other drivers out there; comprehensive insurance is not required by the government, only by the loan company

homeowners insurance is not required by the government, only by the loan company

what was just done with health insurance is something totally different

  10. singlecountrygent Says:

your not required to buy car insurance. nor are u fined if u don’t, this u are fined 2000. its not really possible to repeal it. we can’t begin to get close to paying for it and it is large enough to bankrupt us.

  11. Thomas D Says:

If you own your home outright there is no law requiring you to have homeowners insurance, so your argument makes no sense.

You are not required to carry comprehensive/collision insurance on your car if you own it outright, so this argument also fails.

So yes it is your right to drive into a tree, but remember you sign a contract with the bank when you buy a house or a car requiring you to carry insurance, the Government has nothing to do with it.

  12. Fereshte Says:

I don’t understand how people can NOT see the very obvious and blatant difference between these two cases.

Purchasing auto and home insurance is a CHOICE. If one does not want to pay car insurance, he or she does not need to drive a car. If one does not want to pay home insurance, one can rent instead of own. Owning a home or driving a car is NOT a right but a privilege.

The health care bill, however, requires one to purchase something not by choice, but simply for existing. For breathing. For living. One can not refuse to buy it by not taking part in the privilege. For example, one can’t say, "Well, I’m not going to go to the doctor so I won’t buy the insurance." There is no choice. One exists thus they must purchase/buy it.

It is, without a doubt, unconstitutional and I’m glad to see several states already taking the steps to repeal it.
