I owe my money,couldnt pay it so they cancelled the policy…can i just go to another agency and get another policy?

    Sure …..IF…. you can now find another company that will take you. …….but…..They have the ability to check your past insurance record. It’s called a C.L.U.E. report. That report will reveal your cancellation and the reason. Your credit report has also been damaged now so you may end up paying higher rates not only for that but because you may also be considered high risk now. It would have been a whole lot cheaper if you had paid your premium on time.

    cancelled means you no longer have them as a insurance company and sure you can get any company you want to pay for you can switch any time you want by just stop paying one and pay another

    Sure. It’s a business like any other. Let’s say you get a pizza from A’s Pizza and you write a bad check. This goes into a reporting system and now you are black balled at more businesses. So now you can’t get a pizza from anywhere and other businesses will not deal with you. The insurance companies have a kind of system in place to make this a difficult task for you to overcome. Now your saving grace is this, not all insurance companies use the same service and some are more independent than others (too cheap to buy the subscription). Now it just becomes a credit issue.     Yes, but eventually, the old insurance will put your account through collections to get the money you own them.

    Yes, you can. And, you might not even the old company any money. If you do not pay the policy just cancels. But some companies charge a cancellation fee. So, call your old insurance company or agent and ask them if you owe them any money.
    It can vary by company.

    But your answer is yes. You can go somewhere else and get insurance. And, in some states like CA your credit report is not used.
