I don't know the answer to your question :( I don't want to guess on it. So all I can recommend is waiting for a reliable answer and also to search insurance company's and their policy's. Different insurance carries have different policies.

Also, if I was you, I wouldn't ask about the insurance coverage during the interview, or when you get the job, I wouldn't ask right away. Especially if you are on a probation period. Employers frown on certain questions especially regarding insurance. For an employer insurance is very expensive to provide. They may base their decision on hiring you, on that question.

I hope this helped, I'm sorry I didn't have the answer.

I don't know what kind of insurance you have, but my husband's who is the step-father to my two girls covers them. His is also free. We pay nothing for all of us. He just added us all on after we got married. He had two older children on the plan prior to us. Once, they turned 21 or finished college, the ins dropped them. I have a question for you: Is this ins free for single coverage, ie: the employee only, and then pay for family coverage? FInd out for sure if your not 100% sure. This could get expensive otherwise. Then you would need to consider who's plan would be cheaper. Hope for free family coverage through your to be employer! I think you can add your step-daughter to your plan as an additional dependent, but you would still need to find out with the policy holder. Private insurance companies can make their own rules up. I learned this this hard way a long time ago. I hope this helped a little.
Oh- my children's father passed away and this is why they are not covered by him. Good luck!

this question should be put to the place you hope to work at. all insurances are different. some places offer free insurance to their employees and you pay for premiums for your family. Very few if any offer free insurance for the entire family. Except for the military. If your step daughter lives with you then she would be considered your dependent and she would be treated as your bio child for insurance purposes.

Just ask Human resources for the insurance booklet of rules or policy. It is your right to have time to examine it and call the provider with these questions if not in booklet. If no book available ask for main number to provider. When hired you will be given lots info so they usually have this packaged and ready to go. Through Wal Mart my part very reasonable but add on cost more. I think you may need carry the child on tax to qualfie but they may have different rule.
