You get a bachelor’s degree, and get hired by an insurance company.

It’s not a free lance kinda job.

There are some internet companies that can help you.
Well, they say they can = I’ve read a lot of complaints.
They charge you thousands to train you and give you the paperwork.

Essentially you work for them selling insurance.
They will licence you and charge you for all the tests.

The complaints arise when people say that selling life insurance is hard.
    Imagine that.
They complaint that their family no longer wants to talk to them.
And all the neighbors avoid them.
No one wants to buy any type of insurance.
Everyone can get it through work cheaper – always.
And if you are unemployed – you really don’t want that bill each month.
Everyone tries to avoid insurance salesmen – like the plague.

Before you spend an easy 4 grand testing and getting yourself trailned with one of these companies, be aware of what you are getting into.

Well, yet another "top contributor" who doesn’t pay attention to the question AND gives faulty advice.

First of all, and underwriter doesn’t sell like policies, they UNDERWRITE them.

As for the top contributor’s answer:

"The complaints arise when people say that selling life insurance is hard."

    It’s certainly not easy

"They complaint that their family no longer wants to talk to them.
And all the neighbors avoid them.
No one wants to buy any type of insurance."

No one avoids me and I sell insurance.

"Everyone can get it through work cheaper – always."

    Really? WRONG!!!!!!

"And if you are unemployed – you really don’t want that bill each month."

Who wants ANY bill when you’re unemployed? More importantly, who wants to be paying off a credit-card-financed funeral for 15 years?

"Everyone tries to avoid insurance salesmen – like the plague."

Not really. However, what should be avoided like the plague—your advice.

Underwriters are employed by insurance companies to determine which applications for policies are to be accepted and which are turned down.

You need at least a 4 year college degree. Contact the National Association of Health Underwriters for more information (www.nahu.org.)
