I had an accident in august 2006. a lady crossed the center line and hit me my company would not even start the work on my car w/o my deductible. Now i’m trying to go through hers and i’m getting the run around, I have been quoted 3 different prices from 3 different people at the company. Then I get the papers to sign and the price has changed again. Can someone please HELP, I don’t know what else to do.

You are extremely foolish not to pay your deductible and use your own insurance. If you had done so, I’m certain this would have been settled long ago. Do you know that when you pay your deductible to YOUR company that your money will be returned to you when your company collects from the other guy? It’s Foolish not to use your own insurance because they have dozens of lawyers who will fight for you for free and all you have to do is sit back and watch.

Use your own insurance. If the accident was the other driver’s fault, they’ll recover what they paid out (including your deductible) from the other driver’s insurance and it’ll be returned to you.

This is crap. Your deductible( we call it excess in Australia) should not be charged as you are not at fault. You need to be firmer with your own insurance company. When I fell asleep and hit another car, writing off my car and the other, I was paid within a month and the excess came out of the final payment.

Your best bet is to follow the advice of the others who suggest using your own insurance. Reject the crappy offer from the other company, pay your deductible and let them do all the rest. They will get your deductible back from the other guys company once they get paid.

By the way, it’s not the insurance company who’s making you pay your deductible up front, it’s the shop. You don’t pay your deductible to the insurance company. If you don’t want to pay up front, find another shop that will let you pay it once the repairs are completed.

Do you realize that if you had YOUR OWN insurance handle this and paid your deductible back in August 2006, your car would have been fixed by September 2006 and most likely you would have had your deductible reimbursed to you w/in 6 months?

Why it has taken over 3 years for the other insurance company to settle with you implies that they maybe disputing liability or coverage??

Many companies will not pay the full price after this lapse in time, since the original estimate you received is most likely lower and due to part prices that could go up, could state we will only pay the original estimate quoted due to your delay and stubbornness.

Suck it up and pay the deductible so that your company can go after them and fight them, since that is what you buy insurance for.

    good luck
