My car was damaged. The other vehicle was at fault. A claim has been started but the other company has yet to send someone to inspect the vehicle after 1 week. I have left messages with the adjuster. No return.

How long does it usually take to get compensated after a car accident?

    It all depends on the company, their policies, and any issues there may be with the claim.
    If the loss just occured w/ in the last week, I can see how maybe it has taken a little longer to inspect your vehicle (remember we’ve had 2 holidays in the past week, christmas and new years)
    Otherwise it should be no more than about 3 working days for someone to inspect your car.

    As far as how long until you are paid for the damages……. If there are no issues with the claim and they accept full liability, you should expect a check within a week or so after the inspection of your car.

    If the adjuster is not returning you calls, call the 800# for the company and get the operator on the line, then ask to speak with the supervisor for your adjuster.

    Normal time frame is about 3-7 working days depending on the company & the volume of crashes in your area… with the Christmas holiday & New Years.. add a couple extra days.

    try and be a little patient due to the holidays. it is a busy time for insurance adjusters. i agree a week is a long time. my adjusters are out within 24-48 hrs. if you cannot get ahold of the adjuster, and cannot get him to return your calls, go to his boss. many times the companies hire out adjusters, so contact the actual company claims department and let them know you have not had your phone calls returned. i was rearended and had their adjuster in my office the same day and my car repaired and back to me within 2 weeks.

    When someone hit my car I think the other driver’s insurance company sent an inspector to look at my car within 3 days. 1 week seems kind of long to me though. I would keep on calling them until I get a definite answer. Good luck!
