How do you think a stereotype develops? It develops when u see a pattern from a partcular group.?

I think stereotypes have truth to them. The stereotype that asians are good at math would probably be more truthful than not cause its common to see that they are.Or the stereotype that they cant drive good probably developed from the high number of auto insurance claims by asian people compared to other races. So i believe stereotypes hold a lot of truth.

I think you’re missing a fundamental distinction between generalization and stereotype. A generalization is like saying that Canadians like hockey. A stereotype is like telling me that just because I’m Canadian, I have to like hockey (I do, but that’s beside the point).

Generalizations sometimes exist for a reason. Stereotypes only exist because people are too lazy to get to know a person out before applying a label to them.

Well yeah your do have a Point but

You can’t really rely on those statements to judge People in fact not all asians are smart at Math just because you sit with one that you copy the asnwer since Asian are easily push to do things with out much trouble (see another sterotype!!!!!!!!!!!!!!=]) Dosen’t mean Jackie chan is smart as him and easily push

I happen to know that there is truth in a lot of things don’t necessarily make it true for a whole race of people. There are Asians that aren’t good in math. There are also Asians that have never been in an accident. I could say that people that stereotype are racist. It holds some truth but it is not factual for an entire race of people. It is narrow minded thinking that creates stereotypes and it is narrow minded people that keep referring to stereotypes instead of facts.

stereotypes have some truth to them… except when they deal with "black people"
