Usual rates will vary based on the car you wish to insure, as well as your age, and driving history.

In order for you to find the lowest rates, the best thing to do would be to get an online insurance quote. This will compare all companies in CA and give you a list of companies that offer the lowest rates, thus giving you a good basis, and your best bets at finding not to expensive insurance.

It’s difficult to answer with the information you’re providing. It depends on your driving record, age, the type of coverage you need and the car you’re getting.

Try Progressive, because they’ll give you the rates from multiple carriers on their website. Also, if you’re with a credit union, they may be able to offer you a discounted rate through them. My car was recently in an accident and the body shop said that AAA is the best when it comes to taking care of their policyholders.

There is no such thing as good not too expensive car insurance in CA or anywhere else for that matter. It varies depending on a variety of factors, so the real question is which is best for you with your specific information and needs. And the way to find out is to find an independent agent that can look through his data base and find what suits you best.

I would strongly recommend esurance.com (no "i"). Not only are they cheap but they have a highly rated service. I live in California and save a lot compared to my old company. I have been very happy with them.

I know I sound like I work for them (I don’t) plus they don’t have a friends of family referral service. But I have referred friends and family and they end up paying less too.
