We were out of town for two weeks. While we were gone, the breaker for that freezer flipped over and over 0 in meat was wasted. Will our cover it? Will we have to take pictures?

    It’s doubtful and even if it does, your deductable would probably be more than $200. To top it off, some insurance companies will cancel you if you have a claim against your homeowners insurance or if they don’t cancel you, they could raise your rates at your next renewal. I wouldn’t bother for so little $$$ lost.

    check the fine print on insurance policy, i learned the hard too, that wasn’t covered in my policy

    for most homeowners coverage of that sort is not included automatically.
    Also, you would have to pay your deductible first and i doubt you have less than a $200 deductible, plus having claims against your insurance for little stuff, just isn’t worth it.
    Some insurance companies will terminate coverage or not issue a renewal because of too many claims within a certain time period.

    I don’t know who your coverage is with but when our freezer ended up unplugged (our son had done so to plug a stereo or something in), it was over a week before we realized it. We had just purchased almost $2000 in meats and foods…all ruined. Even though it was truly our fault, our insurer had no problem covering it all 100%, we paid higher premiums in order to have a no deductible clause

    Our insurance paid for a new freezer, a new meat order and replacement of the food that was also in the freezer…

    So, it depends on exactly what kind of coverage your home owners policy has and exactly how good your insurer actually is. Some insurance companies are a lot more difficult to deal with so hopefully you have a good policy and good carrier.
