Car insurance for someone who only drives 1000 miles a year.?

I drive 800 to 1000 miles a year ( just groceries shopping mostly) and have to pay the same insurance premium as someone who drives 10,000 miles a year. Allstate doesn’t care if I drive anything less. I spend more on car insurance than I do on gas. Does any car insurance company give a break to people who barely do any driving?
I talked to my insurance agent about my situation and he said he couldn’t do anything about.
I spend about 75 cents a mile on insurance!

You are already probably rated in the lowest possible miles per year bracket ( I am in the lowest….less than 7500 miles per year category). If you are not in the lowest, you should ask to be placed there. Other than that, there is little you can do if you want to keep a car. At 1,000 miles per year, It would be cheaper for you to sell the car and to use taxis, wouldn’t it?

You could probably insure the vehicle as pleasure (meaning its not driven often) I’d check with you policy and see what options you have

Grab the Yellow Pages and shop it around; you should be able to get a better deal than you have.
