I want to change my comp, i have claimed an accident with it for which i did not get a ticket. So will it matter if I don’t report it to the new company while asking for quotations? Do companies talk to each other or share data?

yes, they’ll find out. They will run a CLUE report – comprehensive loss underwriting exchange – insurance companies report all claims to this agency, and get reports. They put in the vin number for your car, your name, and your address. They will pull up all claims for that vin, all claims under your name, and all claims paid out at your address.

Many companies, but not all, do share claim information through a service called Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange (CLUE), so there’s a good chance the new company will find out. If/when they do, they could either uprate you or cancel you for not telling them. This page says over 95 percent of auto companies belong. The odds are not in your favor.

the companies don’t, but there is an sort of online databank on the vehicle, so no, if it was a claim and you got no citation, as an agent, I would not expect you to tell me. the likelihood of it coming up is vanishingly small.
