Our homeowners insurance has been creeping up a bit over the last several years and I wanted to get an idea if we were overpaying or we are on par? But didn’t want to fill out a quote request yet and get tons of call and emails. Here are some details:
Dallas TX area; Brick home; ~5K replacement

For our house valued at 130k we pay $630/year but we also have a lot of bells and whistles.

You will not be able to get an accurate comparison this way. Call up a couple local agents and give them your details. Policies vary around the country as well as the price of coverage.

There is no shortcut – to figure out if your rate is fair, you HAVE to shop around.
But, as you noticed, if you do it online, what’s happening is your personal information gets harvested and sold to agents as leads – generating LOTS of phone calls.
I’m in Houston. So, I’m more "hurricane alley" than you are, in Dallas – but my homeowners has gone up 20% over the past three years.
If you talk to a local agent, they might be able to show you how to save money on your insurance. The easiest three ways, are by having your car insurance with the same company; by raising your deductible; or by making sure that you’re getting all the ‘update credits’ you deserve, on your policy.
Give a local agent a call.

Put a filter on your email so any emails that have the "insurance" word will go into their own folder and go ahead with quotes, research is necessary.
